Keyboard shortcuts
- D speeds up; S slows down. Hold either key to repeat. Holding S stops at 1×; tap again for 0.5× and 0.25×.
- Space plays or pauses.
- ← and → seek 10 seconds while playing, or 1 second while paused.
Shortcuts apply while you are interacting with the video or its controls and leave typing fields alone. YouTube keeps its own playback and arrow shortcuts outside the RealTime controls.
Settings for every site
Open the extension from Chrome’s toolbar to switch it off on the current site or customize that site’s speed and skip interval. The settings button opens global defaults and site exceptions. Chrome’s sync settings may carry these preferences between your browsers.
Downloads and compatibility
Download saves an available video file to a location you choose. Only download content you own or have permission to save. DRM, protected streams and site restrictions can prevent downloads; a visible video does not guarantee that a downloadable file is available. Picture-in-picture also depends on the player and browser.
Most playback speeds use the browser’s native playback rate. Above a browser’s native limit, very fast playback is approximated by seeking and may skip content or audio.
