RealTime Video Controls is published by LA. It adds playback controls to videos on the websites you visit. Video controls require no account. It has no advertising or analytics, and does not send your video viewing activity or videos to a RealTime server.
Information used to provide the controls
The extension processes the current page’s domain and URL, video elements, video titles, media URLs and playback state in your browser. It handles pointer and keyboard events to show the controls and carry out your playback commands. This information is used to identify the relevant video, apply site preferences, control playback and save a video when you request a download. It does not record a general browsing history or log your keystrokes.
Saved preferences
Enable switches, preferred speeds, skip intervals, site-specific exceptions and remembered speeds are stored with Chrome’s storage API. Site settings include the relevant domain or supported site identifier. If you use Chrome sync, Google may synchronize these settings through your Chrome account. The extension does not receive your Google account details.
Video downloads and website requests
When you request a download, the extension reads the chosen video’s metadata and requests media from that website, its media servers or its video API. Those services receive the requests, including standard network information such as your IP address. The browser may attach existing website credentials where needed and permitted by its security rules. A site’s player metadata or visitor identifier may be used with that same site’s video API. The extension does not send website passwords, cookies or session tokens to RealTime.
Video files are saved through Chrome’s download manager. When separate audio and video streams need combining, that work happens locally in your browser using bundled code. The extension checks its own download results to detect failed responses; it does not collect your unrelated download history. The website’s and Google’s own privacy policies apply to their handling of requests and Chrome sync.
Optional account connections and Trac tickets
You can connect RealTime or GroupChat through that service’s authorization page. On PredictWind Trac ticket pages, the extension reads the ticket number, title and URL to find or create a linked task and show available logged-time totals. The connected service receives those ticket details and the project you choose. The extension also reads your account, workspace and accessible projects to support these actions. It does not read Trac passwords or cookies.
Authorization tokens, cached account details and linked task IDs, names and URLs are kept in local extension storage, restricted to trusted extension contexts; tokens are not synced through Chrome. Your chosen destination and project preferences may sync through Chrome storage. Disconnecting removes the local connection. Tasks already created remain in the connected service and can be managed there. RealTime and GroupChat handle connected account data under their respective privacy policies.
Permissions
- Website access: find compatible videos, including embedded players, show controls, access media selected for download, and support the optional Trac widget and connected-service requests.
- Storage: remember global and per-site preferences.
- Scripting: run bundled code in the selected player’s page to read the video metadata needed for a download.
- Downloads: save the file you request and check whether that download succeeded.
- Identity: authorize an optional RealTime or GroupChat connection.
- Active tab: access the current tab when you use the extension.
- Declarative network requests: remove an obsolete cookie-forwarding session rule left by older versions. The extension uses OAuth for account connections.
Retention and your choices
Transient player and media data is held while the feature is in use. Preferences remain in Chrome storage until changed, cleared or removed with the extension. You can reset site exceptions in settings, disable the extension on a site or everywhere, and remove it through Chrome’s extension manager. Chrome manages synchronized copies according to your sync settings. The video-control enable switch does not disconnect accounts or disable the Trac widget; use Disconnect in the widget or Accounts, or disable the extension itself. Downloaded files and Chrome download records remain until you delete them yourself.
Sharing and limited use
We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, transfer it to data brokers or use it for credit or lending decisions. The extension’s use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the extension’s video features and optional account integrations. There is no developer dashboard containing your viewing activity.
Support and this website
If you email support, we receive the contact details and information you choose to include and use them to answer your request. This help website is separate from the extension: requests to it are handled by our hosting provider and may produce ordinary security and access logs. The extension does not automatically send usage events to this website.
